Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday sent a congratulatory message to the opening ceremony of the first Digital China Summit, which is underway in Fuzhou, capital of southeast China's Fujian Province.
In his message, Xi highlighted the importance of innovation in information technology and called for a faster construction of a "digital China."
President Xi said innovation plays an important role in promoting economic development and upgrading the country’s governance system and capabilities.
He’s called for the development of new driving forces through informatization. He also expressed the hope that the event will exchange views on the latest development in digital economy and improve the building of a smart society.
The summit, with the theme "Let Informatization Drive Modernization, Speed Up the Construction of Digital China," will conclude on April 24.
